Govt to focus on development of Santhals:Chief Minister Arjun Munda

Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Thursday reiterated his stand at Luguburu Ghantabari in Lalpania on Santhali tribal and said that the State Government would focus on development of culture of Santhali tribal in Jharkhand. “Most of the tribals of our State depend on natural resources for their living and we cannot ignore its important,” said the Chief Minister.

He said that the Government is working hard to uplift the life of Santhalis and made them self-sufficient. Munda was addressing the gathering after inauguration the two-daylong festival that kicked -off at Luguburu Ghantabari Dham in Lalpania by lighting the traditional lamp.

In his address, he said that the language and culture of Santhali tribal is its identity and its importance cannot overlooked .The Santhals have rich culture and heritage that need to be promoted. “Our Government believes in restoring the rights of the tribals.” Their culture, language, art are totally different from Indian culture. Moreover; people from different walks of life who have contributed in the progress of Santhali language and culture were also facilitated. He also announced to pay `5 crore for development of Luguburu Ghantabari Thirthalaya in Lalpania.

Prior to this, Babulal Marandi, president of JVM in his address said that promotion of the language and literature of Santhals would be the main topic of deliberation in two day festival .The Jharkhand Government would provide a platform for sharing experience, methods and models of analysis with the purpose of restructuring the knowledge base.

The others leader including Salkhan Murmu, BJP MP Ravindra Kumar Panday, Dumari JMM, MLA Jagarnath Mahto, local district administration, police head and many others addressed the gathering on the occasion. People from different parts of the State and outside are pouring in to worship Luguburu.
